Deliciously dangerous bookmarks

[digg-me]Did you know that some bookmarks on Delicious get a dangerous icon, are kept private (“not shared”) and a warning pops up when you try to visit them?

Here’s one instance, a bookmark on del.icio.us of a PNG file* stored locally on my hard disk:

And this is what happens if I click on the “restricted” link:
delicious warning

The problem stems from the file:// scheme and the reason for this behaviour is that Delicious assumes as dangerous any URL that does not start with one of the following prefixes:

color:
feed://
ftp://
http://
https://
irc://
mms://
news://
gopher://

If you’d like more details and info on how to open the files check the page at http://delicious.com/doc/dangerous

*Note: the bookmark is actually a pointer to the second screenshot, now uploaded to Flickr.
